If you find yourself in a paved parking lot looking for this cache you are in the wrong place.
Tteam decided we needed some caching excitment! We set out to find DeShazo's new cache THE DARKNESS BELOW. GC7H6B8. This was the perfect way to spend a caching afternoon. The only problem was one of our team members couldn't make the trip. We found something that we agreed OBH would be interested in. So, we placed a cache there to give him and others more incentive to make the nice trek into the DARKNESS.
This cache isn't for everyone, although for the most part we had an easy walk. The difficulty is, you are in total DARKNESS! You must take at least 1 flashlight with spare batteries or an extra flashlight, at least one buddy, (it is more fun in a group) drinks and snacks. You will not have cell service so let someone know where you will be. Remember, also, to pack out what you pack in BUT leave the pieces of history there for others to enjoy. Do NOT attempt this cache if there is a good chance of rain in the Birmingham area. You will see water flows to the ceiling at times.
To find this cache, you will follow the reflectors DeShazo placed. Just after you make a left at the first Y, start looking for 2 Americans side by side. You will find an orange matchsick container immediately after you pass the 2 Americans. Please make sure it is replaced in a manner to protect it from a flood.
