Happy 2018! Its a new year, and it's time for a new puzzle cache to beat the winter blues and get moving again after all those holiday cookies.
This is my 3rd puzzle cache, and is based on a timeless classic that has been played by grandparents and young folk alike. It is one of cartoon dogs favorite board games, even though I don't get to play as often as I'd like. Unfortunately, gone are those youthful days of board gaming until all hours of the morning, but those memories have inspired me to create this puzzle cache.
The posted coordinates are for orienting purposes, and mark the entrance to a state park. The first stage is near here. Your challenge begins by solving the puzzle laid out on the board pictured in the gallery. Successfully solving the puzzle will bring you to a devilish little Stage 1, which when opened, contains the coordinates for the final prize. Stage 1 is technically park and grab, but have a tweasers or something like it to remove the log. Then the final is located a short drive and delightful walk down a nearby scenic trail. The final is meant to be the easy part, as the challenge is in the puzzle, and possibly Stage 1.
The cache is starting out with some small trinkets, including a few coins, a cartoon dog figurine, a little alligator, letter tiles, a few word puzzles for the taking, and a $5 D&D gift card for the first finder. Let's try to keep the contents of this cache fun. If you take something cool, leaving something else cool.
And that's it. I'm going 4 star on this one. For some, it'll be that hard. For others, maybe not as much. But irregardless, 4 stars, and 2 1/2 for terrain, yeah, you're gonna have to work for it a little. :-) Message me if you get stuck, and I'll send hints one at a time.
This cache was placed with the permission of the Stokes State Forest superintendent. She was receptive to this idea but does ask that geocachers tread lightly. At no point during this quest do you have to move a bunch of stuff or destroy things. Everything is quite accessible if you know where to look.
Happy hunting! Do enjoy the quest. Oh yes, the puzzle:
**If the puzzle image will not display for some reason, I have also included it in the gallery**
