Another cache hidden in the beautiful Waiohine River Valley. For those who have found my cache PBBP, they will know exactly what to expect. This is the second in a new emerging series disposing of household containers in remote places. The cache is placed within 1 m of the track next to a prominent track marker. Look down low. Bring a pen.
The Waiohine Gorge and river catchment arise in the central Tararua Ranges. At this stage of the track you are 1.5 to 3 hours from the road end depending on your fitness level and cache finding skills. Soon after this cache you will come to a junction and a choice. Do you climb up high to avoid the river in flood? Or do you descend to the river edge and scramble along amongst boulders and a gravel beach to reach the first grassy flat? Nature will probably make the call on your behalf.
