A group of seven friends meet once a year to talk about our lives, loves, joys and troubles. A few years back we each collected 8 stones - each of which represents a decade of years. As we are all over 40, we placed 4 stones on the ground. It was a significant moment realising that we held in our hands less than half of our days (if we were lucky) left on this earth.
We started a tradition this year (2017) of honouring our parents whose stones had run out by placing a geocache in their honour.
Mark Walker- Mighty Mark was an awe-inspiring, people-loving legend to his family and the communities that he served both in the ministry and in the non-profit sector. His passion for uplifting people and remaining “real” crept into the hearts of many. Taken too soon by the horrors of pancreatic cancer, he will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched. Through the music we hear, the gloriousness of nature surrounding us, the joys of a good braai accompanied by a brandy and coke, the bond of family, Mark remains alive and part of us forever.
