Stop for a moment and close your eyes... here you will find peace where once a mighty Iron Horse tread.

You have stepped onto the Dequindre Cut. Just under two miles long end to end, this former rail line now walking/biking path, runs from Detroit's Eastern Market to the Riverwalk and Milliken Park.

It was "sunk 25 feet below street level in the 1920s by the Grand Trunk Railroad to avoid foot and vehicle traffic, which continued overhead unimpeded on more than a dozen bridges. Passenger and freight services was discontinued on the line in the early-to-mid 1980s and the corridor sat vacant."

Until 2009 when the Cut was reopened as a greenway, celebrating a mobile Motown, miles of urban art, and the spirit of community.

And now onto the hide...

Although TaGeez and I have been here many times with no cause for concern, it is an urban area.
Please take proper precautions when geocaching in the area. Not recommended at night.
