A quiet road side cache in a lovely village. It is by a narrowing of the road, so keep an eye on little ones and geohounds. It is overlooked by houses, so stealth may be required. Not a drive by, as there is no adjacent parking, although there is abundant parking around the village.

Caldbeck is one of the most beautiful and peaceful of all the Lakeland villages, it lies at the foot of the Northern Fells and just inside the Lake District National Park. The timeless character of the village has been preserved as a conservation area where ponies, sheep, cattle and even ducks roam freely.
The village is named after the river (Cald Beck) on which it stands. This river and its tributaries provided the water for the important industrial development of the area in the 17th and 18th centuries - woollen mills, bobbin mills, corn mills, a paper mill and a brewery. The village still reflects this former industrial activity with many of the old mill buildings still in use.
Caldbeck has lots of amenities and picturesque local walks of all standards; from easy strolls along the river side or around the village pond, to the more strenuous nearby mountains of High Pike or Carrock Fell.

I am a massive rock music fan and aim to give clues to each of my caches with reference to one of my favourite bands:Thunder are an English hard rock band that were formed in London in 1989. In their early days they were seen by many to be ‘The Next Big Thing’ in rock. After initial critical, but only moderate commercial, success (all of their first 5 albums were in the top 50 UK albums, and they had 17 top 50 UK singles in this period) the group split up in 2000.Thunder have since had two more active spells: 2002 - 2009 and 2011 - to the present. Nowadays they are still recording and touring, stronger than ever, maybe that big break is just around the corner!
