Team NTX - 2018 Texas Challenge Strategy Event #5
Come join other North Texas Geocachers from 1:00 pm-1:30 pm in Rockwall at the SH 66 Boat Ramp Park on Sunday, March 4, where we’ll be talking about the 16th Annual 2018 TXGA Texas Challenge & Festival (GC71QAW) MEGA event to be held in Denton, Texas on March 10, 2018. This MEGA event is the high point of the year for many geocachers!
This event could be your chance to log 5 types in a day! It will be a good start to finding 9 types in a day with some driving!
During this Strategy Session we’ll talk about how the competition works and strategies that will help the NTX team win the coveted Golden Ammo Can for an unprecedented 6th year in a row! Every year our margin of victory has shrunk, and we will need to be at the top of our game to keep our streak alive!
This meeting is open to all and we’d like to meet local Geocachers who want to learn more about the Texas Challenge as well as geocachers who have competed in the past. Come socialize with other geocachers even if you don’t plan to attend the MEGA in March.
Important note: The TXGA Texas Challenge & Festival MEGA is hosted by the Texas Geocaching Association (TXGA). There is no registration fee to attend or compete in the Texas Challenge, but everyone who might want to compete must register by 11:59 pm CST, March 4, 2018. Even if you’re not sure whether or not you will compete, please register before the deadline. But...... if you register before 11:59 pm CST on February 14, 2018, your name will be put in a hat for a chance to win a 1-year premium Geocaching.com Membership!
New in 2018: Added this year is an individual competition that will follow Saturday’s team competition. We are told that the individual competition will be run on foot and that individuals will be competing against other individuals. When you register for the Texas Challenge, you’ll be presented the option to enter yourself in the individual competition.
Bring the family and meet up with area Geocachers. Stop by and see us even if you can only stay a few minutes.
Come at noon and attend this CITO GC7HT3X NTX Pirates CITO being held at noon, the same day as this event, at the same location as this event.
After the meeting concludes, you can walk the bridge where Guido71 has hidden multi’s, mysteries, letterbox and traditionals. We might even set up shuttle vehicles that can bring you back to the event parking after you’ve found the letterbox GC3PR1B on the west end of the bridge so you won’t have to walk the two miles back - unless you want to!
Bring your kayak and you can do some area terrain 5’s like GC4JK19. There’s also a couple of cemetery caches less than a mile away and there are plenty of easy traditionals to be found.
