A long time ago a stone bridge was built to cross a creek. A troll lived under the bridge and horded his cache of treasure nears the bridge. A heard of feral cats lived on the other side of the bridge in a bamboo forest and the troll would eat them when he was hungry. One day a princess was travelling through the area and found the herd of cats and bonded with the herd of cats; she was still unaware of the troll that lived not too far away. Every day she would meet with the cats to pet them and give them snacks. Over time she brought the cats shelters to sleep in and had named them all. As the troll ate the cats she would notice they were missing. Suspecting that something was awry she observed the cats from afar. One day she saw the troll eating a cat and discovered why her cats had gone missing. She asked her father the king to help and he sent knights from there castle on the nearby island where they lived. The knights were able to overtake the troll and free the cats from their tormentor. The princess was now free to play with the cats without fear of losing any to the troll. It is said that the troll’s treasure is still hidden near the bridge, but the only clues still remaining as to where the bridge is located that are the words in this crossword puzzle.
