Twentse landschap


Het Twentse landschap is adembenemend mooi. Van uniek natuurgebied tot uitgestrekt veengebied. Terug in de tijd; ooit wandelden hier de mammoet, de wolharige neushoorn en het laatste reuzenhert. Sterker nog, ooit was dit gebied zee, getuige de walvis- en haaientanden die af en toe nog gevonden worden. Nu is het unieke Twentse land een bonte verzameling van bijzondere landschapselementen. Zin in bos, heide, weide, beekjes en bronnen? Twente heeft het allemaal!




The Twente landscape is breathtakingly beautiful. From unique nature reserve to extensive peat areas. Back in time; the mammoth, the woolly rhinoceros and the last giant deer even walked here. In fact, once this area was sea, witness the whale and shark teeth that are still found here today. Now the unique Twente country is a colorful collection of special landscape elements. Forest, heath, meadow, streams and springs. Twente has it all!






Het watermachientje




Aan de T-splitsing van de Piepersveldweg en de Veldhuisweg te Borne ligt een bijzonder gebouw met een waterbassin. In 1916 liet de directie van textielfabriek Spanjaard dit, ver van de fabriek gelegen, pompgebouw bouwen. Het pompgebouw was bedoeld om water uit de Deurningerbeek via de twee, achter het gebouw liggende, bergingsvijvers en vervolgens via een buizenstelsel, dwars door Borne, naar de kleigaten aan de Deldensestraat te pompen. Vanuit deze kleigaten werd vervolgens het water overgebracht naar een waterzuiveringsinstallatie van de textielfabrieken van Spanjaard. Daar diende het water voor koeling e.d.. Het pompgebouw is in baksteen opgetrokken, in twee gelijke delen, op een rechthoekige plattegrond. Het rechter gedeelte is 1916 gebouwd. Het linker gedeelte is in 1941aangebouwd. De gevels zijn bekroond met een gepleisterde band onder een plat, overkragend, betonnen dak. Het oudste deel heeft bepleisterde spaarvelden op de plaats van voormalige deur- en raampartijen. Op de gepleisterde band van het oudste gedeelte de tekst “SPANJAARD – 1916”. De vloer van het pompgebouw ligt  120 cm lager dan het maaiveld. Direct achter de toegangsdeur een bordes met trapje. Achter het gebouw, in parkachtig gebied, spaarbekkens met aan de oevers restanten van het pompgemaal. Het is een gemeentelijk monument en een belangrijk industrieel erfgoed in de gemeente Borne. Het werd destijds in de volksmond “Het Watermachientje” genoemd.

The pump building was intended to pump water from the Deurningerbeek via the two salvage ponds located behind the building and then via a pipe system, through Borne, to the clay holes on the Deldensestraat. From these clay conditions the water was then transferred to one water purification plant of the Spanjaard textile factories. There the water served for cooling and the like. The pump building is built in brick, in two equal parts, on a rectangular floor plan. The judge section was built in 1916. The left part was built in 1941. The facades have been awarded with a plastered band under a flat, cantilevered, concrete roof. The oldest part has plastered savings fields on the site of former door and window units. On the plastered band of the oldest part the text "SPANJAARD - 1916". The floor of the pump building? 120 cm lower than the ground level. Directly behind the entrance door a platform with steps. Behind the building, in park-like area, reservoirs with remnants of the pump pumping station on the banks. It is a municipal monument and an important industrial heritage in the municipality of Borne. It was called "Het Watermachientje" in the vernacular.
