Geocache Description:

Easter Egg Event of 2018

This year we are returning to Columbia County to one of our favorite conservation groups, the Columbia Land Conservancy (CLC), to introduce as many cachers as possible to the Harris Conservation Area.

Tired of the snow? Looking to get out for one of your first Spring events? Well, I am not sure that snow will be gone, but we will be out again hosting our annual Easter Egg Event!! Come join us and other cachers for an Easter Egg hunt at Harris. Find some eggs, find some caches, and find some friends (or make new ones) as you and/or your children look for eggs spread throughout the preserve.

Prizes for found eggs will include candy, toys, geo-items, and other items yet to be determined. Drinks and snacks will be made available. If you want to bring something to share, then please post it so others will know. If you would like to contribute items to be given away, then please contact me.

Bring your friends, bring your children, bring your pets and bring yourselves! It would also be wise to bring the bug repellant and some tweezers as some of us discovered ticks, not geocoins, on our clothing at last year’s event! YUCK!! Last year’s event went pretty well and we had some really nice weather. Let us hope this year’s event follows suit!

About Harris:

“The Harris property includes 1.9 miles of trails on 76 acres of land. The hemlock forests provide habitat for a variety of different birds. In the temporary vernal pools, you may see the eggs of frogs and salamanders in the spring, and their young as they hatch. These woodland pools provide critical habitat for amphibians. The property’s cliffs and outcroppings are home to lichens over a century old. The small piles of rocks form crevices and caves that provide great habitat for bats, porcupines, and snakes. “

This event will take place from 11am-3pm unless otherwise noted.
