I had to move this original cache from its former location. It was too far to just change the coordinates so i had to archive and publish a new one. The original cache was (GC6EDWH) . THIS IS VISIBLE FROM A HOUSE but they know it is there and are very nice.
I wanted to make a series to highlight places in Upshur County that people pass every day. So I set about to make a little loop from Sago -Tenmile-Queens-Tallmansville-to Buckhannon to let you experience life in Upshur County past and present. Also I noticed there are so few caches that are set up for people and children with disabilities. This cache is perfectly flat right off the paved road in grass. We chose this spot because it is easily accessable to everyone.
A BIG THANK YOU....to The hinkle family for letting me move the cache near their gate.
This cache contains a small rubber stamp and a ink pad as well as a journal to collect short stories or, just your stamp in it. These three items are NOT swag and are NOTcollectable. Please make sure they are not removed from the cache. Before you is French Creek it is a tributary of the Buckhannon River. It waters eventually flow North to Pittsburgh. It is said that settlers, trappers, and Indians all used this creek to travel from Fort Pitt in to the wilderness they would come up the Monongahela River eventually to the Buckhannon River and in to the French Creek where they would go up stream from this point and portage over a mountain and then follow the Little Kanawha River back to the Ohio River. I Thought you would enjoy a little lesson in Upshur County history. (I will as I add caches update this one with a hint to a mystery cache I'm working on as the end of the series) I have written permission from the land owner to place this cache here.
