This is the fifth cache in the Chehalis Parks Series. Hopefully this series takes you to parts of our wonderful little town you may not have been to before and also to learn a little bit about the history of Chehalis in the process.
Recreation Park is the number one spot for families and is home to the Shaw Aquatics Center, Spray Park, and the ever-popular Penny Playground. Enjoy a family picnic at one of several covered picnic areas where the kids can have a great time playing on the extensive castle-style playground. The V.R. Lee Community Building and Fred Hess Kitchen are available to the public for family reunions, parties, meetings, and more.
In 1992, a community-wide fundraising project – that began with a penny drive – was started to build Penny Playground. Through the diligent efforts, hard labor and volunteer spirit of our community, the sprawling playground became a reality in 1993. It has since become a favorite place for both youngsters and adults.
Congratulations to Y2K' for being the FTF!!!
