Little Mell Fell stands at 505m high and has a short grassy spur to the north west. Inbetween this spur and the main fell is the source of Thackthwaite ghyll, which passes underneath the bridge and meanders its way down to the river Eden.
You might be lucky enough to see deer, red squirrels or even hear the Curlew call.
Walking eastwards from the bridge take the first small lane on the right which is a bridal way ( Folly Lane) for a nice walk that talks you to Cove with clear views of Ullswater.
Easily located from the road side but please park safely away from the final desintation as this is a narrow road but not busy.
GPS might have diffculty as under the trees.
