Geocache Description:

This is a tribute to my friend Curtis Dixon a fellow geocacher and lover of the woods.

Magaguadavic Laker (ML) became a cacher 14 days after me and was born 12 days before me!! I became aware of him when he found GC2EB3 Short Hike in Winter two days after K57 & I searched all around for it. So I said: “Who is this guy?”. I would often see his name on the log on caches that I found. ML had a love for the woods and especially caches that required a hike in the woods often in remote areas. When I finally came face to face with Magaguadavic Laker, it was not on the geocaching trail, but rather at a fellow Lake George cottager deck over a cold one. My friend Kim said you should meet my Dad he is a Geocacher too. So I asked Curtis what was his caching handle. When he replied “Magaguadavic Laker!” I almost spit out my beer! So naturally we exchanged a few tales about our experiences. He shared how he fell from a snow bank and threw out his back for a couple of weeks before he could resume his caching game.

ML was diagnosed with cancer in the late fall. His family tried to get him out to reach 2,000 finds, but he just didn’t have the energy. So he was 49 finds/smilies from hitting the Big 2. Although he never hid any caches, he enjoyed caching wherever he travelled; Atlantic Canada and the eastern seaboard of USA as well as Bermuda. He found 41 Puzzle/Mystery caches and I see we both found one in New York City; GC832C Busman’s Holiday which I recommend if you ever cache in NYC. ML was a reluctant cacher as he never attended any events and a cacher of a few words except when he made them a Favourite.

I would later learn that ML loved Killarney Lake, so it is only fitting that the cache be placed here in the back wilderness of Killarney Lake Park. You are looking for an ammo can. Please pause a moment and remember a cacher gone too soon. RIP, ML!

Congrats te da Wench for bean FTF and to Capt NB for granting shureleave!
