Welcome to Magnetiti (მაგნეტიtი), a place where sand is magnetic. Magnetiti is a coastal settlement in town Ureki (ურეკი) and it is named after its magnetic sand.
The task is to go to the beach on the given coordinates and answer following questions via messages in my profile. You need a magnet to be able to answer the questions.
- Describe what color is sand on the beach?
- How magnetic the sand is, i.e., how many grains of sand are attached to your magnet?
- Based on your observation and other information estimate an amount of magnetic material in the sand.
Magnetic sand is considered to be good for people with joint and cardiovascular system diseases. Some believe that magnetic properties treat a number of health problems, including cardiovascular diseases.
Nowadays the place is very popular, it is considered as the most famous Gurian seaside resort. On the site of today’s settlement was a forest so dense and impassable that it was even difficult to hunt predators out of the forest. That is why this place was called Ureki (‘deep forest’, or ‘lagging place for hunters’ in Georgian). Development of forest-dimmed territory has started since 1928. Cultivation of citrus trees and hauling of magnetite sand from the beach aiming at its use in metallurgical production and oil drilling were businesses developed in the settlement. As a result, of 4-5 m high magnetic sand dunes totally disappeared in 15 years. This process had also positive outcome, as the benefits of Ureki magnetite sand were noticed exactly by the quarry workers. Soon therapeutic properties of sand drew attention of the community, medical professionals and research centers. Artificially created magnetic field as physiotherapy means is widely used in today’s medicine. Impact of magnetic field improves the quality of biological processes under way in the human body; it has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and tissue-regeneration effect; it strengthens immunity of the body and facilitates longevity of life. Advantage of Ureki as a resort is the point that there is naturally created low intensity magnetic field. Above that, there is subtropical climate, sea, sun and unique sand having no clone in the world setting the best conditions for therapy and health improvement. Natural curing factors of Ureki are especially wholesome to deal with children’s ailments (spine and obstetric paralyses, remaining effects of poliomyelitis, rachitis) and rehabilitation of sportsmen.

Magnetic sand in different countries
Magnetic sand is mostly met in Kamchatka. It is found by Sevastopol in the Ukraine. Basic congestions of this sand are found on the Black Sea coast – in Bulgaria and Georgia. Georgian sand include 2-3% of magnetite, though in several places they may reach 70% – in small partings at the upper layers. Bulgarian placer deposit of magnetic sand are wider than those of Georgian, but maximal content of magnetite in them is substantially lower. კეთილი იყოს მაგნიტი (მაგნეტი ტ), ადგილი, სადაც ქვიშა მაგნიტურია. მაგნეტიტი არის სანაპირო დასახლება ქალაქ ურეკში (ურეკი) და მისი სახელი მისი მაგნიტური ქვიშაა.

დღესდღეობით ეს ადგილი ძალიან პოპულარულია, როგორც ყველაზე ცნობილი გურიის ზღვისპირა კურორტი. დღევანდელი დასახლების ადგილზე იყო ტყეში ისეთი მკვრივი და გაუვალი ტყე, რომ ტყეში მტაცებლების ნადირობა ძნელი იყო. ამიტომ სწორედ ამ ადგილს ურეკი უწოდა ("ღრმა ტყე" ან "მონადირეების გასასვლელი ადგილი" ქართულ ენაზე). ტყე-გაბრტყელებული ტერიტორიის განვითარება დაიწყო 1928 წლიდან. ციტრუსის ხეების გაშენება და მაგნეტიტის ქვიშის სანაპიროდან სანაპიროდან მოპოვება, რომელიც მიზნად ისახავს მეტალურგიული წარმოებისა და ნავთობის საბურღი სამუშაოების გამოყენებას. შედეგად, 4-5 მ სიმაღლის მაგნიტური ქვიშის ძეები მთლიანად გაქრა 15 წლის განმავლობაში. ამ პროცესს ასევე დადებითი შედეგი ჰქონდა, რადგან ურეკის მაგნეტიტის ქვიშის სარგებელი სწორედ კარიერის მუშაკებმა შენიშნეს. მალე ქვიშის სამკურნალო თვისებებმა ყურადღება გაამახვილა საზოგადოების, სამედიცინო სპეციალისტებისა და კვლევითი ცენტრების ყურადღების ცენტრში. ხელოვნურად შექმნილი მაგნიტური ველი, როგორც ფიზიოთერაპია, ფართოდ გამოიყენება დღევანდელ მედიცინაში. მაგნიტური ველის ზემოქმედება აუმჯობესებს ადამიანის ორგანიზმში ბიოლოგიური პროცესების ხარისხს; მას აქვს ანთების საწინააღმდეგო, ტკივილგამაყუჩებელი და ქსოვილის რეგენერაციის ეფექტი; ეს აძლიერებს სხეულის იმუნიტეტს და ხელს უწყობს სიცოცხლის ხანგრძლივობას. ურეკის უპირატესობა კურორტად არის ის, რომ ბუნებრივად შექმნილია დაბალი ინტენსივობის მაგნიტური ველი. აქედან გამომდინარე, არსებობს სუბტროპიკული კლიმატი, ზღვა, მზე და უნიკალური ქვიშა, რომელსაც არ აქვს კლონი მსოფლიოში საუკეთესო მდგომარეობაში თერაპიისა და ჯანმრთელობის გაუმჯობესებისთვის. ურეკის ბუნებრივი სამკურნალო ფაქტორები განსაკუთრებით ჯანსაღია ბავშვთა დაავადებების (ხერხემლის და სამეანო პარალიზების, პოლიომიელიტის, რაქიტის მოშლის) და სპორტსმენთა რეაბილიტაციის საქმეში.

მაგნიტური ქვიშა სხვადასხვა ქვეყანაში
მაგნიტური ქვიშა ძირითადად კმაჩატკაში შეხვდა. სევასტოპოლის მიერ უკრაინაში აღმოჩენილია. ამ ქვიშის ძირითადი შეშუპებები შავი ზღვის სანაპიროზეა ნაპოვნი - ბულგარეთი და საქართველო. ქართული ქვიშა მოიცავს მაგნეტიტის 2-3% -ს, თუმცა რამდენიმე ადგილას 70% -მდე შეიძლება მიაღწიოს ზედა ნაწილების მცირე ნაწილებს. მაგნიტური ქვიშის ბულგარეთის პლაცენტის დეპოზიტი უფრო ფართოა, ვიდრე ქართული, მაგრამ მაგნეტიტის მაქსიმალური შინაარსი არსებითად დაბალია. შავი მაგნიტური ქვიშა საქართველოს პლაჟებზე - იშვიათი და უნიკალური ფენომენი პლანეტაზე.
