Power To the Linemen 3 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Team Cache Divers: They came in and replaced all the power line poles in different locations, so the caches no longer are there or could be easily replaced. I will archive and reco these for Funcoast Bash 6!

Geocache Description:

This series is dedicated to the linemen and linewomen that traveled from all over to Florida to help restore power after Hurricane Irma.

There were very few people in the whole state that was not affected by it. Many of us were without power for days, weeks or even months. The hardworking and dedicated linemen and linewomen came and worked tirelessly day in and out, they worked long 18 hour days to try and get the millions of Floridians power back on. We cheered the power trucks driving by with men and women from different states and even countries as some had come from as far away as Canada. Some people even did their laundry, bought them meals and drinks. We appreciated all their hard work and dedication to helping us get our power back on.

Ours personally took two weeks to get or power back on because we had down power lines in the neighbors back yard, and a couple of blown transformers. But luckily they were able to get us back up and going eventually. It was a harrowing experience, one we are not soon to forget, nor will we forget the men and women that helped us get back our power.

So here’s to you!!!! Our many, many thanks!

The road can be accessed via hiking or biking (mountain bike, mostly hard packed but bumpy).

You must stop at the Ranger Station and not only pay for the daily fee $$ for the park, you also need a free parking pass to park at the Power Line Entrance to access Power Line Road unless someone is dropping you off and picking you up? You can be ticketed or towed if you do not have a parking pass here, so please be aware of this and make sure to ask at the Ranger Station prior to going for this run. Please make sure to not block the gate where you do park at.

Please make sure to take adequate amounts of water and bug spray depending on the time of year.

It is around a 6 mile trek, 3 in and 3 back, 6 1/2 miles total round trip if you go for all of the new ones on either side of the ‘T’.

Please take a few seconds to close the container properly. What takes you a few seconds to do, saves us from spending hours and $$$$ replacing swag, logs and containers. Also please re-hide as well as you found it or better so it doesn't get muggled. Thanks!
