State Highway 93, known as the Old Coach Road, or the Back Road, is a short cut between Mataura to Clinton.
The main route through Gore on State Highway 1 is about 11km longer.
This one lane bridge over the East branch of the Waipahi River was built in 1958.
I'm not sure when the new bridge (number 131) was built, but I'm guessing its sometime in the early 1980's as I remember travelling on the old bridge as a kid.
