Circunstâncias que o passar do tempo e alterações de vida profissional se impuseram, impedem-nos de fazer as devidas manutenções das nossas caches mistério dispersas por Almada; Setúbal e Loures.
Foi com um enorme prazer que inventámos mistérios, problemas, puzzles etc e com o mesmo prazer tentámos inovar igualmente no GZ com a maneira de esconder a cache ( camuflagem) que muitas vezes foi original e que por isso impuseram manutenção ainda mais cuidada .
Muitos de vós conseguiram por si sós ou pedindo a nossa ajuda ( que só dávamos se conseguíssemos perceber que havia trabalho na tentativa da resolução do mistério ) e a todos damos o nosso aplauso e agradecemos terem logado as nossas caches e os favoritos dados .
Por não conseguirmos fazer a manutenção das nossas caches e com alguma nostalgia vamos encerrá-las. Não é justo resolver o mistério e chegar ao GZ e não a encontrar porque desaparecida ou porque o ambiente já não corresponde ao original .

Dear Geocachers,
Circumstances imposed by the passage of time and changes in our professional lives do not allow us to do the properly mintenance of our mystery caches scattered throughout Almada, Setúbal, and Loures.

It was with great pleasure that we invented mysteries, problems, puzzles, etc., and with the same pleasure we tried to innovate in the GZ with the method of hiding the cache (camouflage), which was often original and therefore required even more careful maintenance.

Many of you managed to solve the mysteries by your own or by asking us for some help (which we only gave if we realize that there was some work involved in trying to solve the mystery), and we applaud you all and thank you for logging our caches and also the given favorites.

Since we are unable to do the maintenance of our caches, is with some sadness , we are closing them. It is unfair to solve the mystery and arrive at the GZ and not find it because it has disappeared or because the environment no longer matches the original.

This is the 4th mystery cache of 7evenMood. All listings are bilingual to assure that everybody can play. Good luck.

In memory of those good old days when math was a pleasure, in opposition to the big monster it has been transformed nowadays, we propose another mystery cache with 4 math challenges.
We know that math can also be fun, full of challenges that sometimes seem impossible to be solved but, after using the adequate tools, we achieve the goal and feel the pleasure of the conquest., ,.This is the main reason we created this new challenge: to stimulate the geocacher’s brains.

Below are 4 small problems, that require different kinds of logic tools to solve them in order to discover the final coordinates of an hidden cache.


PROBLEM 1 - Pools perimeters

Jorge and João have rectangular pools of equal perimeter. The measurements (length and width) of both pools are an integer number of meters. The number representing the area of Jorge's pool (measured in square meters), is equal to three times the number representing its perimeter. In the case of João's pool, the number representing the area is equal to twice the number representing the perimeter. Which is the smallest perimeter, P, of the two pools (expressed in meters)?


Consider that one of the components of the North coordinate of the cache is N1 = P - 1


PROBLEM 2 – Old fashion sum.

Solve the equation, where each letter corresponds to a different number:

Consider another component of the North coordinate, N2, to be composed of the juxtaposition of the following digits: N2 = DND


PROBLEM 3 –Basket of oranges

Jorge has an orange tree and decided to pick up some oranges and offer them to some friends. He started by going to João's house and offered him half the oranges he caught from the tree, minus half an orange, because he thought that the oranges were not enough to offer to all his friends. Then he went to José´s house and offered him half the oranges he still had, minus half an orange, for the same reason. Then he went to Julio's house and offered him half the oranges he still had more half of an orange. Finally, he went to Joaquim's house and offered him half the oranges he still had more half an orange and he ran out of oranges. How many oranges, L, did Jorge picked up from his orange tree?

Consider that one of the components of the West coordinate of the cache is W1 = L


PROBLEM 4 - The ant and the sugar

An ant intends to reach a package of sugar. The ant and the package of sugar are separated by a wall with 2,00 meters of height and 0,30 meters of thickness. The straight lines, perpendicular to the wall, passing pass through the ant and the sugar packet positions, are parallel and are 3,92 meters apart.. The ant is 1.50 meter from the wall. The sugar packet is 0,50 meters from the wall. What is the minimum distance, D (in centimeters), that the ant has walk to reach the sugar packet?

Consider that the other West coordinate, W2, is equal to the distance walked by the ant: W2 = D

In memoriam dos tempos em que a matemática era um prazer, em oposição ao bicho-de-sete-cabeças em que se transformou, propusemo-nos a mais uma cache mistério com 4 desafios de matemática... e não só.
As recordações transportam-nos aos idos do tempos de liceu, onde a mestre, professora Alcina de seu nome, de entre outros rigores, nos obrigava a raciocinar matemática (porque raciocinar era um rigor que se impunha), começando pela Geometria, onde a compreensão tinha nome de “desenho“ e era de mais fácil visualização. As demonstrações dos teoremas de geometria, traçadas no quadro negro, deixaram-nos fascinados.
Que gáudio saber chegar, por demonstração, à fórmula resolvente das equações de segundo grau, não as “empinando”.
Desses tempos sobram ainda os livros do professor Palma Fernandes (cheios de múltiplos exercícios semelhantes), que nos obrigavam a domar a massa cinzenta, a consolidar os “esquemas“ de resolução, que nos ficavam gravados de forma indelével, a pontos de ainda hoje a eles podermos recorrer.

Hoje sabemos que a matemática é também diversão, desafios, barreiras que à partida nos parecem intransponíveis e cuja posterior resolução se transformam em puro prazer. Essa a razão que nos levou a criar mais um desafio para estimular a massa cinzenta de todos os que nos visitarem.

Aqui deixamos 4 pequenos problemas, com resoluções que implicam diferentes lógicas e ferramentas e de cuja solução depende a descoberta da localização da cache.


PROBLEMA 1 - O perímetro das piscinas

O Jorge e o João têm piscinas retangulares de igual perímetro, sendo as medidas (comprimento e largura) de ambas um número inteiro de metros. Para a piscina do Jorge, o número que representa a sua área, medida em metros quadrados, é igual ao triplo do número que representa o seu perímetro. No caso da piscina do João, o número que representa a área é igual ao dobro do número que representa o perímetro. Qual o perímetro, P, das piscinas, em metros?

Considere que uma das componentes da coordenada Norte, da cache, é N1 = P - 1


PROBLEMA 2 - Uma soma à antiga

Resolva a equação, em que cada letra corresponde obrigatoriamente a um algarismo diferente:

PROBLEMA 3 - Uma cesta de laranjas

O Jorge tem uma laranjeira e resolveu apanhar um balde de laranjas e oferecê-las a amigos. Começou por passar por casa do João e ofereceu-lhe metade das laranjas, menos meia laranja, pois lhe pareceu que ficaria com poucas para dar a outros amigos. Depois foi a casa do José e ofereceu-lhe igualmente metade das laranjas que ainda tinha, menos meia laranja, pelas mesmas razões. Seguidamente, foi a casa do Júlio e ofereceu-lhe metade das laranjas que ainda tinha e mais meia laranja, pois agora lhe parecia pequena a oferta. Finalmente, foi a casa do Joaquim e ofertou-lhe igualmente metade das laranjas que ainda tinha e mais meia laranja e… ficou sem nenhuma. Qual o número, L, de laranjas que o Jorge apanhou?

PROBLEMA 4 - A formiga e o açúcar

Uma formiga pretende alcançar um pacote de açúcar, tendo a separá-la um muro com 2,00 metros de altura e 0,30m de espessura. As linhas retas, perpendiculares ao muro, que passam pela formiga e pelo pacote de açúcar, são paralelas e distam entre si de 3,92 metros. A formiga está a 1,50 m do muro. O pacote de açúcar está a 0,50m da parede. Qual a distância mínima, D (em centímetros), que a formiga tem que percorrer para alcançar o pacote de açúcar?
