Find this cache in late February or early March. Actually you can solve and find this any other time, but if you do pick that option, you're still going to have to come back in February/March for the tastings.
In the front of this winery, at the page coordinates, is a library of 30 grape varieties. You are welcome to come along and sample them, to compare and contrast between varieties. Some are famous, such as Pinot Noir, others you will probably have never heard of, varieties normally only added to wine to improve their flavours and complexity.
And this is the winemaker's art - to produce a great wine requires (among numerous other things) the careful blending of the right grapes. Note that any wine may have up to 15% made up from grapes that do not match the label (differing in any or all of year, variety or region).
To find this cache, walk down the rows of the library, tasting each variety. Match the flavour notes below to the variety. Add the positions in the alphabet of all of the initial letters in the variety name (including any bracketed alternatives), and use the last digit to find the coordinates.
For example, Malbec (Cot Noir) = M+C+N = 13+3+14 = 30 = 0.
For our blend today, please choose six varieties that match these characteristics:
A: Robust, with plum and spices
B: Tannic, yet soft and smooth
C: Black cherry and raspberry
D: Nutty pear
E: Aromatic, with hints of gooseberry
F: Full bodied, velvety chocolate
