(GMMA4) La leggenda del Budello del Profondo Traditional Cache

Quando parliamo di Portonovo non dobbiamo dimenticare i suoi due laghetti da fiaba… o da incubo! Il Lago Profondo (oggetto di questa cache) e il Lago Grande (di cui vi narro nella cache GC7J5GA "(GMMA5) Piumaggi Lacustri").  I due laghetti sono situati non molto distanti dal mare e le loro acque sono salmastre. L'origine di questi laghetti, secondo fonti molto antiche, pare derivi da un'enorme frana del Monte Conero che ha intrappolato l'acqua del mare tra i massi che col tempo si è mischiata a bolle d'acqua dolce emergenti dal terreno.

A differenza del Lago Grande, ben visibile nella zona di Portonovo denominata "Il Molo", il Lago Profondo resta più nascosto, nella zona sud della Baia, vicino alla Chiesa romanica di Santa Maria di Portonovo. Secondo antiche leggende una setta segreta, non si sa di quale provenienza, di quale culto o di quale religione, ma che usava riunirsi dalle parti di Portonovo, per praticare i propri riti si serviva di cadaveri di nobili, prelevati da tutte le Marche. Si trattava di corpi di signori feudali che si ostinavano a praticare i rituale dello ius primae noctis (in italiano: "diritto della prima notte"), il diritto di trascorrere in occasione del matrimonio di un proprio servo, la prima notte di nozze con la sposa. I cadaveri venivano gettati in questo lago, che si dice abbia un canale sotterrano, che attraversando il Conero, sfocia direttamente a Portorecanati.  

All’interno del Lago Profondo, infatti, si aprirebbe una vasta cavità che costituirebbe l’inizio di un fiume sotterraneo di vaste dimensioni. Questo fiume, denominato il Budello del Profondo, si colloca in un punto imprecisato e comunque sarebbe nascosto dai fondali. Il corso d’acqua sotterraneo è "così lungo e tortuoso da attraversare tutto il Conero, da parte a parte, per sfociare di nuovo in mare all’altezza di Porto Recanati, dopo essere passato sotto la Santa Casa di Loreto. Tutto questo sarebbe talmente verosimile che basterebbe appoggiare l’orecchio sul pavimento della Santa Casa per sentire lo scorrere di questo fiume sotterraneo. A Camerano si tramandano storie fantastiche di persone o animali, talvolta persino interi carri trainati da buoi, i quali, caduti accidentalmente nel Lago Profondo di Portonovo, vi sarebbero sprofondati, per poi essere ritrovati in mare al largo di Porto Recanati, a notevole distanza dal luogo nel quale erano stati risucchiati”.

Si pensa che un tempo il lago sia stato profondo addirittura 20 m e forse, proprio per questo motivo, si diffuse questa leggenda. Lo scopo magari era di spaventare, mettere in allerta chiunque si avvicinasse al Lago Profondo. Oggi la profondità del fondale è molto più esigua, anche a causa dell’elevata pressione antropica che ne ha modificato gli apporti da monte e da mare.

Si tratta di una brevissima passeggiata che in pochi minuti vi porterà alle coordinate. La ricerca potrebbe presentare difficoltà dovute alla fitta vegetazione, che in particolari periodi dell'anno potrebbe rendere antipatico il recupero. 

I log che non troveranno corrispondenza nel logbook fisico verranno cancellati.

Alcuni suggerimenti/raccomandazioni:

• lo scrivo in tutte le cache della zona, ma è inevitabile: in estate sarà praticamente impossibile, soprattutto nel week end, pensare di trovare parcheggio (comunque a pagamento) nell'area adiacente le coordinate. In tal caso, suggerisco di abbinare la ricerca ad un intera giornata di mare arrivando in Baia nelle primissime ore (tipo alle 8.30, massimo alle 9.00) del mattino, oppure sfruttando i bus navetta che potete prendere (sempre pagamento) a monte della Baia. Informatevi prima. Oppure, programmate un giro nella Baia di Portonovo, nel tardo pomeriggio per godersi le luci del tramonto;
• attenzione ai rovi che potrebbero ostacolare l'accesso al nascondiglio.

Riposizionate esattamente come trovata, chiudere bene e fate attenzione a non farvi vedere!

When we talk about Portonovo we must not forget his two fairytale ponds... or a nightmare! The Lago Profondo (object of this cache) and the Lago Grande (of which I will cite GC7J5GA "(GMMA5) Piumaggi Lacustri"). The two lakes are located not far from the sea and their waters are brackish. The origin of these lakes, according to very old sources, seems to derive from a huge landslide of Monte Conero that has trapped the sea water between the rocks that over time has mixed with fresh water bubbles emerging from the ground.

Unlike the Lago Grande, well visible in the area of ​​Portonovo called "Il Molo", the Lago Profondo remains more hidden, in the south of the Bay, near the romanesque Church of Santa Maria di Portonovo. According to ancient legends a secret sect, it is not known of which origin, which cult or which religion, but which used to gather from the parts of Portonovo, to practice their rituals used cadavers of nobles, taken from all the Marche. Inside the Lago Profondo, in fact, a vast cavity would open, which would be the beginning of a vast underground river. This river, called the Budello del Profondo, is located in an unspecified point and in any case it would be hidden from the seabed. The underground waterway is "so long and winding to cross the whole Conero, from side to side, to flow back into the sea at Porto Recanati, after passing under the Santa Casa di Loreto. It is likely that it would be enough to place one's ear on the floor of the Holy House to hear the flow of this underground river: fantastic stories of people or animals are handed down to Camerano, sometimes even whole ox-carts, which accidentally fell into the Deep Lake of Portonovo , would have sunk, then found again at sea off Porto Recanati, a considerable distance from the place where they had been sucked up".

It is thought that once the lake was even 20 meters deep and perhaps, for this reason, this legend spread. Perhaps the purpose was to scare, to alert anyone who approached the Deep Lake. Today the depth of the seabed is much smaller, also because of the high anthropic pressure that has modified the contributions from upstream and from the sea.

It is a very short walk that will take you to the coordinates in a few minutes. The research could present difficulties due to the dense vegetation, which in particular periods of the year could make the recovery unpleasant.

The log which will not find a match with the physical logbook will be deleted.

Some suggestions/recommendations:

• I write it in all the caches of the area, but it's inevitable: in the summer, it will be practically impossible, especially on the weekend, to think of finding parking (however paid) in the area adjacent to the coordinates. In this case, I suggest combining the search for a whole day at sea arriving in the bay in the early hours (type at 8.30, maximum at 9.00) in the morning, or taking advantage of the shuttle buses that you can take (always payment) upstream of the Bay. Inquire first. Or, plan a trip to the Bay of Portonovo in the late afternoon to enjoy the sunset lights;
• attention to the brambles that could hinder access to the hiding place.
