Once again I am grateful for, the HAGS, who coordinate, organize, and otherwise run this fun event. The reviewers, who did a fabulous job on releasing the caches on opening day. And the hiders - without you, there would not be so many wonderful caches to go find...
This truly is a MAGICAL spot for ANOTHER ONE FOR THE HAGS. I had to move last years HAG cache twice, so if you've found the previous ones, you will recognise the container. It took a while to get the ammo can up to the summit, what with the snow and ice all over the trails. I must say that the icicle waterfalls on most of the steep trails with bedrock were stunning, even though they were very slippery to navigate. The cache final is located about 4 meters off the main trail. I met up with one person the whole 3 hours I was on the hill,and that was a mountain biker on the Jelly Roll Trail. However in the summer when the sun is shining there might just be muggles passing by. You will be off to the side, and below eye level of most folks who are going to be checking out the views. Please be stealthy if you need to be. Thank you in advance for your thoughtfulness. Once I was finished with the cache placement, I was able to enjoy the views of the snow covered mountains and the ocean. I watched as the wind blew in the mist, and decided it would be best to get off the hill before it started to rain. I knew if the rain came, the walk back down through the forest would be much darker than out on the hillside. I was right, it was way too dark to use the side trails back down the hill, so I added a bit extra to the walk and stayed on the summit trail. Very glad I did not park in the lot as it was locked when I arrived. Once out on the road, it was a beautiful moonlit walk back to the car.
