The final stage of this cache is NOT at the posted coordinates!
At the posted coordinates you will arrive at Veterans Memorial Park. Drive in and find the large tank displayed in the park. From here you must read the plaque at the tank and do some simple math to find the coordinates to the final stage of this hide.
The coordinates to the final stage are as follows: N40 51.ABC W74 30.DEF
To solve for the first set of numbers (ABC), find the post number of the Denville American Legion that has donated this tank for display. Once you have this number, subtract 97 from that number. This remainder serves as ABC.
To find the second set of numbers (DEF), find the three digits that are in the name of the tank (from left to right) and write them down. DO NOT ADD THEM! Simply write them down next to each other from left to right as if forming a three digit number. Once you have this three digit number, subtract 17 from it. This remainder will serve as DEF.
The final stage can be walked to in under a minute if you park at the top of the park by the road. The final stage is a small bison tube attatched to a large wooden pillar.
Coordinates can bounce around this area a bit due to many natural factors that we as geocachers cannot control. Please bear with me as the coordinates will get you close enough to make the find no problem.
Congrats to MetsFanInNJ for the first to find.
