The Gratis Fire Department, Station 18 (One-Eight), proudly serves the citizens of the Village of Gratis & Gratis Township. The Gratis Fire Department is a volunteer department operating 1-Resuce-Engine, 1-Engine, 1-Tanker, 1-Brush Truck, and the area Mass Casualty Trailer. The Gratis Fire Department works closely with our brothers and sisters at West Elkton Gratis Township Fire, Station 80 and our brothers and sisters at Gratis EMS. The first known recorded date of operation for the fire department is 1901. Around this time the department purchased a large number of buckets and started serving the citizens.
Team Geofire18 is a group of devoted firefighters who love to get out and cache! We decided why not place a cache at the place where it all started. If you are out and about and happen to stop and grab this cash, dont be alarmed if we are out working. If the bay doors are open we encourge you to stop in and visit!! Maybe even grab a picture or two with the crew and post it in the comments. Only thing we ask is please dont block the road or intersection in case of an emergency our crews need to be able to respond without delays.
