Cache Info: This is a medium sized plastic ammunition container.

You are at the base of the south peak of Arabia Mountain. This cache is the first of five caches that will lead you along the west base of the mountain.

This is a route seldom taken by the visiting public. Along this route you will see not only natural rock formations, but also the remains of quarrying that took place on the lower slope of the mountain in the early part of the 20th century. Vertical rock faces are the best indication of past quarrying. They are called quarry faces.

Between this cache location and the Line of Rocks cache, the terrain is natural. From that point, as you continue walking along the base, you will pass areas of quarrying as well as un-quarried areas.

Fortunately, the top of the mountain and the east face were not subjected to the quarrying. When you visit those areas you will be amazed at the natural beauty of the mountain, especially in the spring and fall.

Park at the Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve’s South Parking Lot on Klondike Road. Take the Mountain Top Trail, marked by rock cairns, to the base of Arabia Mountain. Then follow your GPSr to the cache.
