An Elelphant was passing and left one one his legs behind.
You can find it in Anderson Park which is free to enter the grounds but only available during daytime hours. 8 am to dusk. Outside these times you would be trespassing needing to bypass the gate... so do not do it.
The historic building is not open due to earthquake potential risk. There are several short bush walks.
In Invercargill to my knowledge there are two big Elephant legs. One here the other at a private residence 666 Tay Street. Just drove past it the other day and it has been chopped down. Must have got too old. Maybe the ancient elephant got stuck in the Invercargill swamp and had to leave two behind.
Cache is a magnetic nano approx 400mm above GL. Accuracy 7m. You will need an extraction tool to retrieve it from its place. South of GZ is the leg of the elephant which its canopy towers above.
With the amount of experienced cachers have to visit multiple times to find this magnetic nano (and many not finding it) in/on a post held in place with a steel screw, I have bumped up the D/T rating.
PLEASE REPLACE AS FOUND...WITH MAGNETIC END FACING OUTWARDS> TOOL TWEEZERS KEY RING ANYTHING STEEL AND SMALL WILL DO.
