Burl Davis was a good friend - more like a brother - to my sister and brother in law (Tommy and Sherye) back in the 90's. One time they came to visit him at his house one weekend. Burl was out mowing his grass and his mother's too that lived next door (Joan Davis). So Tommy and Sherye went on in Burl's house - Burl not knowing they were there. As he drove the mower past his backdoor, Tommy, being the prankster he was, Tossed a glassful of cold water out on him. Burl and the mower came to a screeching halt and Burl was not sure what had happened. Then he saw Sherye and Tommy on the back porch laughing their heads off. Burl told them he would get them both back one of these days for that! Burl's mother, Joan, was a JP there in Coke County, and she performed the marriage ceremony when Sherye and Tommy were married on Feb 14, 1999. Burl is buried in this cemetery. Not sure if Joan is still living or not at the time of this placement. Rest In Peace, Burl.
