Pine Street Elementary School - CARW2018
With this years CARW having a ‘Back to Geo-School’ theme, we thought we would school everyone with some actual schools! These caches will give you some history on some of the schools in the Strathcona County / Sherwood Park area. We hope you enjoy being schooled!
Pine Street School was built in 1963, and was the rival school to ScooterRichard’s elementary school, Brentwood. More on Brentwood later.
Like make schools in Sherwood Park, Pine Street School was built to keep up with the population influx. The original name of the school was Sherwood Park Elementary School and was originally opened as a grade one to four school. In 1969 grades five and six were added to the original grade one to four classes. In 1971, two major changes occured. An additional to the school was completed adding more classrooms, a science room, a staff room, an infirmary, a conference room, and two small offices. That year the name of the school changed to the present name of Pine Street School. The name change was necessitated because of the confusion caused particularly in the post office, with the other elementary schools in Sherwood Park.
