They say Hydrogen Sulphide is one of the worst smelling gasses around! Well, I recon I found a place that smells a heck of a lot worse than that! So of course – my first thought was to share it with you!

Luckily I had my eudiometer with detection attachment in my geocaching kit, so I could diagnose the gasses I found. Here is a break down of what was found in the sample I took:

Some Carbon Dioxide mixed with Cyanide, one part Carbon Monoxide, tons of that really smelly gas – in fact it was 25 parts of Methyl Mercaptan (smells like rotten cabbage)! There was also 2 parts of Ammonium Sulphate mixed with one part Oxygen, Hydrogen Sulphide (rotten eggs) mixed with 4 parts Methane, and finally 22 parts Nitrogen Dioxide mixed with eight parts Carbon Monoxide!

Note 1: The ability to produce Methyl Mercaptan in urine after eating asparagus was once thought to be a genetic trait.
