A Place of Gathering

The open space around you, framed by vertical rock faces, once served as a gathering place for a local Wiccan group. The rock walls were painted with colorful astronomical imagery, creating a space that reflected both nature and belief.

In 2002, these painted images were carefully camouflaged using colors that blend with the natural granite, restoring the visual landscape you see today.

Understanding the Story

At one time, there were local concerns and misunderstandings about activity in this area. Some believed it was associated with devil worship and darker practices, but that perception did not reflect reality.

Wicca is a recognized, nature-based religion that centers on harmony with the natural world. Its traditions often draw from pre-Christian practices rooted in regions such as Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.

Many who follow this path focus on respect for nature, cycles of life, and a connection to the earth.

Layers of the Landscape

Today, this space stands as another layer of the preserve’s history. Like many places along the Arabia Mountain landscape, it reflects how people have interacted with this environment in different ways over time.

As you explore, you may not see what once was here, but the story remains part of the land.
