Cache Info: This is a medium sized plastic ammunition container.

The boulder at this cache location is one of many that have resisted the relentless weathering of the rock surface around the boulder over millennia of time. A short distance from here, adjacent to the Mountaintop Trail, there is a good example of the exfoliation that is taking place on the mountain.

All granite rock outcrops weather in this way. The mountain continuously, over eons of time, has the top layer of rock separate from the underlying rock. Slowly the mountain is worn down.

Results of exfoliation.

Park at the Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve’s South Parking Lot on Klondike Road. Take the Mountain Top Trail, marked by rock cairns, toward the summit of Arabia Mountain. Then follow your GPSr to the cache.
