Cache Info: This is a medium sized plastic ammunition container.

By 2002, several hundred graffiti messages had been placed on the rock outcrops at Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve. A few were so vile and distasteful that some women said they felt uneasy when hiking at Arabia Mountain. The Ranger tried sand blasting to erase one of the graffiti messages, but the sand blasted area stood out like a “sore thumb”. Use of chemicals was deemed a hazard to the environment and would have been too time consuming.

A volunteer suggested camouflaging the graffiti with paint that blended with the color tones of the rock. This geocache location was selected for evaluating the camouflage approach. Several graffiti messages had been placed on the vertical rock face.

The graffiti camouflage with paint was very effective. When Becky Kelly (Director of DeKalb County Parks and Recreation) and Mary Terry (Arabia Mountain Ranger) viewed the results, they immediately made the decision to camouflage all of the graffiti on the Nature Preserve. The graffiti camouflage project, when completed, significantly improved visitor enjoyment of the Nature Preserve.

Park at the Arabia Mountain Nature Center Parking Lot on Klondike Road. Take the bike path south to an area of rock outcrop on your left. Leave the bike path and follow your Gpsr to the cache.
