Where the Work Was Managed
Built in 1910 by the Arabia Granite Company, this building served as the administrative center for quarry operations on both sides of Klondike Road.
While much of the visible work happened out on the rock, this was where the operation was organized, tracked, and managed day to day.
More Than Just an Office
Inside this building, records were kept, shipments were tracked, and the logistics of quarrying were coordinated. Orders for stone, transportation schedules, and workforce needs were all handled here.
Weekly payroll for quarry workers was also managed and stored in this building, which is why the windows were fitted with bars. What some visitors mistake for a jail was actually a practical security measure protecting wages and equipment.
This space connected the physical labor on the mountain with the business side of the operation, bridging the gap between extraction and distribution.
Adapting to Change
When the rail line serving the quarry was discontinued in the mid-1930s, operations shifted. Stone began to be transported by truck rather than rail.
To support that transition, a truck weigh station was built in front of the office building. Remnants of that structure can still be seen today, marking a shift in how the quarry functioned.

This is where decisions were made, records were kept, and the rhythm of the quarry was quietly directed.
