When Seiroku Honda who is said to be the father of the park of Japan visited this valley at the beginning of the Showa era, he named here "Arashiyama of Musashi country" because it resembled the scenery of Arashiyama in Kyoto closely. Then this became the sensation and many tourists came to visit here. A long line of the torist toward Ranzan ravin from Musashi-Ranzan station of the Tobu tojyo line occured.
日本の公園の父と言われている本多静六が昭和の初めにこの渓谷を訪れ、ここが京都の嵐山の風景によく似ていることから“武蔵国の嵐山（あらしやま）”と命名しました。これが契機で嵐山渓谷は大評判になり、多くの観光客がこの地を訪れるようになり、東武東上線の武蔵嵐山駅（当時は菅谷駅）から観光客の長い列ができたほどでした。
Mt. Ohira rising from the Ranzan ravine is the summit level of Ranzan town at 179m above sea level. There was a watchtower in connection with the Ogura castle in the age of civil strife.
From the top, Ranzan town can be overlooked in the east and Tooyama basin and the Ogura castle trace with a flow of the Tsuki river in the west.
嵐山渓谷から聳える大平山は、標高179mで嵐山町の最高地点です。戦国時代には小倉城と連携した物見櫓がありました。
頂上からは、東には嵐山町が一望でき、西には槻川の流れと共に、遠山の盆地と小倉城跡が見渡せます。
