Welcome to Strawn Park and the Disc Golf course. This cache is high and dry above the flood plain of hole 1. Enjoy the trails through the wooded terrain, but do watch for muggles. This place can be busy, especially on weekends. PLEASE be respectful of this PUBLIC PROPERTY.
This IS an active disc golf course. Be aware of players and discs in the air. This cache is close to the parking lot, but some cachers try to scramble directly up the hill, then complain about it! There are boulder stream crossings and wooden bridges all through the park. One scenic approach to this cache is to follow the course map (basket 1, basket 2, basket 3), you will be led gently up the hill.
A faster second approach is from the west end of the parking lot. Follow the road and cross the creek using the concrete bridge. About 100 feet away is another crossing, a wooden footbridge. Then, walking toward the hill you'll see some orange landscape flags where we think another wooden stair will be constructed. Follow that more gentle incline up the hill.
You will then find some evidence of heavy equipment.
If you are looking for Hitchin' a Ride, go back down the hill to the wooden footbridge and look for wooden stairs to climb. You will be close to GZ.
After logging Hitchin' a Ride, it'll be a bit of a trek to Sunset Bluff. When you see the deep swale, you can approach GZ on higher ground via the trail to the left, but going through the swale is fun too (and usually dry).
This cache placement has been approved by Lida at Columbia Parks and Rec.
