Geocache Description:

Like many Fiordland residents, they know people who have gone missing in the area and were never found.

An information kiosk remembering those lost, was opened in Lynwood Cemetery in Te Anau - a move applauded by many.

Three groups of people are listed on the kiosk's eight boards - names of people buried in the cemetery, the location of their grave, the names of people who went missing in the region and were never found and the names of people buried in remote areas of Fiordland.Te Anau historian wanted a memorial in the town to remember people who had gone missing in Fiordland's lakes, mountains and sea. He had hopes of it being erected on the water front of Lake Te Anau but that was going to take time and a lot of red tape to work through.

About 100 people attended the opening, including 12 relatives of people gone missing. Some of the relatives travelled from Christchurch and Wellington.

Listing the names of missing people and those buried in remote areas added importance to the kiosk. "It's pretty special."

The cache is placed out of sight and in the tree line away from graves, from couple of metres from GZ you can see this information board, please take time to go and take a look as it is a special spot.
