This geocache is placed at Claytor Lake State Park with their approval. Located at 6620 Ben H. Bolen Drive, Dublin, Virginia, this 472 acre state park has 3 miles of lake frontage along the beautiful Claytor Lake. There is a modest fee for park entry. GinGin loves visiting as many Virginia State Parks as possible. Claytor Lake is certainly no exception. With miles of hiking, swimming, boating, birding, camping (cabin/tent/RV), there are endless opportunities for fun, adventure and family memories. GinGin prefers the comfort of one of the great cabins with a lake view. The Howe House, which serves as the park office, was built long before this area was a state park, way back in 1876. It is an incredible piece of architecture with a wooden spiral staircase that is absolutely beautiful. The Claytor Lake State Park gazebo, located behind the Howe House, is a wonderful location for weddings. The Water's Edge Meeting Facility has a large meeting room for many types of occasions, including receptions. With the lake as your background, it is the perfect location. During warm summer months, the beach and swimming areas are the definite spot to cool off during those hot summer days. Boaters can use the boat ramps to unload/load their boats. Enjoy fishing on one of the many piers available or kick back in the shade of the trees and enjoy a picnic with friends and family. There are several playground areas for youngsters to play and run off some energy. Need a gift shop for souvenirs? There are two of them at Claytor Lake State Park (the park office and Water's Edge Meeting Facility). The Claytor Lake State Park rangers and staff are friendly and helpful. They want you to have a safe and memorable time while you are there. So, be like GinGin, and visit Claytor Lake State Park and all of the other state parks here in our home state of Virginia! The cache you are looking for is a black hide-a-key. The hint will be a huge help. The trail is handicap accessible, so anyone can safely travel. Bring your own pen. Have fun! Congratulations to Fhiter for being FTF!
