Geocache Description:

Due to Gps going crazy in the area, I am revicing this cache to a letter box. This is also very apt as to where it is. A letter box cache is found by clues rather than co ordinates and contain am ink stamp for you to copy..

Cache and dash. ...PLEASE RE-HIDE THIS CACHE WELL ...Small tupperware box with swaps, (stamp & ink not a swap) big enough for tb. please leave the container accessible to all ages and abilities. Number for series. parking at the pub is safer. Please use the pedestrian crossing near by. Please be respectful of the area this cache is in. Enjoy the pub and the local store, as well as visiting the old station next to the pub.

The station opened on the Grand_Junction_Railway in 1837 when the line was built. It opened in Baldwins Gate near the edge of Whitmore Parish. This station brought in huge amounts of people as it served as the nearest station to Newcastle-under-Lyme and the Potteries until the Stoke line opened. On 29 June 1937 the Coronation Scot engine created a world record of 115 mph while travelling through Whitmore station giving it world-wide fame. However the station slowly began to get less business and in 1952 the station closed. One station building can still be seen: a building, next to a bridge spanning the track, in the definite style of ticket office. A small sandwish box with swops. On a busy road about 7 miles from Newcastle on the road to Shewsbury, so please be carful of traffic.
