You are looking for a small container on the SW corner of 83 Frontage Road and Business Park Drive on the south side of bushes. It will have two travel bugs ready for visits, trades, or take and please log that. This geocache is a TRIBUTE to all the workers in the citrus industry in the Lower Rio Grande Valley and especially in Hidalgo County where most of it in Texas is produced. Adding some historical information, 1893 was the first reported planting of a citrus grove in Texas. John H. Shary was impressed by these early experiments and purchased 16,000 acres of brush land in 1914. He cleared it and grew his first crop of seeded white grapefruit and became known as The Father of the Citrus Industry. About 1929 there was an accidental discovery of red grapefruit and the rest is history! The list of citrus workers is long, but includes those who plant the trees, pick the citrus, drive the trucks, and the many others who work in this industry. From a Webster's Dictionary: TRIBUTE (4th definition of 4) noun. something given, done, or said, as a gift, testimonial, etc., that shows gratitude, respect, honor, or praise. That is what this geocache is about. * * * TaxProRGV will help with maintenance issues when I am back up north (thanks). * * *
