The Harford Historical Tour was created to take you to places you probably have gone by many times without knowing it was part of Harford County’s history. Across the street is the Hays House, one of two remaining houses listed on the federal tax records of 1797. Built in 1788 it was owned by Elizabeth Gibson. Later sold to Thomas A. Hays, the cartographer of the earliest know map of Bel Air. In 1960, it was moved one block from its original site and is now headquarters of the Historical Society of Harford County.
