I started the Johnny Appleseed series about three months ago as I watched my caching karma droop over the years, and felt the need to give back, and explore the local trails in a different perspective. Since those 50 caches were placed, my karma has doubled from 0.35 to over 0.70, so I'm starting round two, sprinkling caches along the trails just a bit farther from home.
This cache is just off the lower portion of the Chamise Trail in Rancho San Antonio, one of the busiest parks in Silicon Valley. This trail is a little more isolated than some of the more busy trails near the farm, and affords a nice view of the Rogue Valley trail, (eventually) the reservoir (if water ever returns), and Black Mountain beyond. The trail climbs slowly, starting around 480 feet at the RS09 trailhead, to over 1100 feet where it ends and Black Mountain Trail begins near the Duveneck Windmill site. The cache is on the inside curve, the coordinates should be pretty good.
It sounds like PO has overgrown the area since the cache was placed. Be careful in your retrieval.
