When we asked permission to put a cache on the Craflwyn Estate we were told we could put in in the "Japanese Garden". After some research we found that the remains of a garden, with a pool, a waterfall and a stone slab bridge, were discovered during operations to clear rhododendrons. Unfortunately there is little else remaining except for a solitary azalea and a stand of bamboo, so if it was once a Japanese garden it's certainly "not now, Cato!".
The Craflwyn Estate includes a number of waymarked paths which give good views of Nant Gwynant, as well as access to Dinas Emrys which has associations with Merlin and the origins of the Welsh flag. On your walk you may also see a number of interesting objects such as a giant's chair, and one in the shape of a dragon. Please note that some parts of the higher paths can be muddy after rain.
The black waymarked path eventually links up with the Watkin path towards Snowdon.
Please make sure you hide the cache carefully when you leave, and beware of muggles!
