The Talking Dog Joke Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Benjamin Screamer: Sorry, due to some mistakes I've made when I moved the cache (changing the D/T ratings) I've decided it's best to archive this cache. I hope I won't make the same mistake again. The cache has been removed from GZ.

Geocache Description:

Welcome to The Talking Dog Joke geocache. With a volume of 1 L it's a Regular (M)* plastic clip-down container that you'll find hidden near the fence-line less than 50 metres north-west of the corner of Holden Road and Leakes Road, Plumpton. There is plenty of road verge parking.

The Talking Dog Joke geocache contains a log, a pen and a pencil and some swag, but no talking dog. Please carefully return the cache to its hiding place as you found it.

The cache has been graded as D2.5 because once you get to GZ you'll realize it's a bit of a challenge but you'll find the cache if you're patient.

I've graded the cache as T2 because the physical effort to reach the coordinates is pretty easy, seeing how it's only about a 30 metres hike from the road, but there are two ditches that might contain water that you have to cross.

Happy caching!

And now for the joke:

A family of geocachers were driving through the countryside. They spot a sign on a farm fence. It reads: Talking Dog for Sale. Curious, they drive to the farmhouse and talk to the farmer about the dog.

“Oh, you mean old Annie,” says the farmer. “Yes, she really does talk. Go outside and you can talk to her yourselves”.

The geocachers go outside and approach a kelpie resting in the shade of a big gum tree.

As the GeoKids pat old Annie, GeoMum asks a question. “Please tell us some of the things you've done over your lifetime?”

“I've led a very full life,” answered Annie. “I started life working on a sheep farm near Omeo. In the wintertime I worked as a rescue dog up in the Alps saving injured skiers and lost climbers. Then I served as an explosives sniffer dog for the Army in Afghanistan. After that I worked as a Customs dog at Melbourne Airport. Now I'm retired to the country but still like to keep busy reading to the children at our local kinder two days a week.”

The geocaching family is flabbergasted. GeoDad asks the farmer, “Why on earth would you want to part with an incredible dog like that?”

The farmer says, “Because she’s a liar! She never did any of those things!”
