I think this bridge is worthy of a visit, hence the placement of a cache here. You a looking for a micro cache attached to a piece of railway memorabilia. It shouldn't be necessary to detatch the two. Park A40 side of bridge please to avoid blocking gateways.
Built to carry the Gloucester to Ross-on-Wye railway line over Barrel Lane, it is of a stone construction with a fine single-span arch. Barrel Lane links the A40 at its southern most with the B4222 at its northern end. I have many happy memories that relate to this lane; family still live down it and good friends too. I was first introduced to this lane in 1970 and it has been part of my comings and goings since then; trips up Mayhill, visiting hedges on the way down cycling far too fast and now geocaching adds itself to the list
If you have the time, take a drive along it but beware of the numerous sharp bends. There is also another cache at the other end, GC3Y7NG Shell Bridge.
Please cover well after replacing, thanks.
Thanks to Longhope Parish Council for allowing this cache to be placed.
