Geocache Description:


This is a short, three-stage multi cache, that will take you to two adjoining cemeteries, dating back to the early settlers of this area in Rusk County.

Sugar Hill Cemetery has numerous unmarked graves believed to date back to the 1840's, while the oldest marked grave is dated to 1861. Note the different items used to mark gravesites, including an iron wagon axle.

The Historical African American Sugar Hill Cemetery is located adjacent to the fenced cemetery, and has no marked gravesites.

STAGE ONE coordinates will take you to the Historical Marker just inside the gate. Answer the following question: What geometric shape do you see on the back of the marker?

STAGE TWO coordinates will take you to the Historical African American Sugar Hill Cemetery monument. Answer the following question: According to the monument, how many people are buried in this cemetery?
