Come Attend the Sixth Annual NorthStar GeoSeekin' Weekend!
Our event this year will be at Menahga City campground in Menahga, Minnesota on August 18th.
We will kick off our event at 8:00 AM with games to be played, pictures to be taken, and caches to find.
We will wrap it up at 3:00 PM with a prize giveaway.
CAMPING
We have reserved campsites at the campground. There are 9 with water and electricity, 2 with electric only, and 5 tent sites. Reservations will be handled by me, so you can either e-mail me or contact me on my profile:
You and view the campsite layout here:
We have sites numbered 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14A, 14B, 15, 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23 reserved for Friday and Saturday night.
POKER RUN
We will bring back the poker run again this year. Five temporary caches will be placed with playing cards in them. You will pick a card from each cache location. Bring the sealed envelopes with your cards back to the campground, and during the prize ceremony at 3:00 PM, we will see who has the best poker hand and prizes will be handed out for the best hand(s).
TRAVEL BUG RACE
To participate in the travel bug race, you must drop an activated travel bug with zero miles on it into the event. The travel bugs will be released from there and start on it's race to accumulate miles. The race will conclude on August 5, 2019. The only rule is that you can't move your own travel bug. A prize for the travel bug with the most miles will be handed out at next years event.
KIDS GAMES
We will be hosting some kid (and adult) games during the day you can participate in and try to win some swag.
OTHER TIDBITS
Free will offerings will be accepted to fund next year's event.
If you want to attend but don't plan on camping, there is one small motel in Menahga, but 3 motels in Park Rapids.
There will be all kinds of other activities in conjunction with this three day weekend which will be announced at a later date.
The plan so far is to have 2 or 3 new night caches, a new 49 cache geo art, plus a few new traditional caches published closer to the event.
Typically, Groundspeak gives out a souvenir for caching on international geocaching day. They haven't announced one yet this year, but you may earn a souvenir for attending this event.
