Episode 8 Review:
- "Our first of the series and already a favourite! Unique spin and greatly appreciated." - fielder69
- "Another Ancient Autobot buried! So interesting. I've hiked this trail many times before and never even noticed the Autobot here." - Sakidoo
Warning: Gun hunting for deer is usually the first 2 full weeks in November. Bow hunters could be in here starting in October. You may be better off to come earlier, or later. Wear blaze orange if you do decide to do come during the season.
A great battle was fought here and unfortunately this Autobot fell by the hands of the Decepticons.
During the battle, he lost his Energon Cube, which you must find and sign.
You will find the lost Energon Cube at the following location:
N45° 12.(North coordinates from picture below) + A + B'
W075° 52.(West coordinates from picture below) + C + D'
This picture was intercepted by the Autobots along with a message that said "Only a true Decepticon would know which coordinates to use."

------ FIELD PUZZLE ------
You must navigate to the coordinates along the Rideau Trail listed below (virtual stages) and observe your surroundings. What you will find there will be associated with a number that you will need in order to find the lost Energon cube. The "corresponding number" and coordinates to visit are listed below. Note: The observation list may contain items that might not be obvious when reading it the first time, however when on site things will make a little more sense.
The corresponding number for each "object" that is found at the stages:
- 10 = A bus
- 30 = A metal roll of Autobot perimeter defense material
- 50 = A large Missile silo
- 70 = Autobot slaughter / remains pile (this is a horrible sight... body parts everywhere)
Destinations to "Observe" at:
- A = Number of 'thing' found at: N45° 12.038' W075° 52.780' (corresponds to Stage1)
- B = Number of 'thing' found at: N45° 12.022' W075° 52.792' (corresponds to Stage2)
Once you have gathered all the information above, head over to the deceased Autobot. You can find him at: N45° 12.026' W075° 52.803'. (Shout-out goes to 'GPS Derek' who let me know about the location of this Autobot)
Now observe the remains and answer the following:
C = If the Autobot is a car, then 10, if the Autobot is a truck, then 20; however if the Autobot is a snowmobile, then 30.
D = If the Autobot is 'normal side up', then 4, however if the Autobot is upside down (i.e. wheels facing up), then 8.
Note:
The total hike to find the Transformer and the cache, and to then make your way back to the car is under 1km (if you park on Joys road). Otherwise if you come in by a different road into the Rideau trail, it may be between 3-4km round trip.
Be sure to private message me if you know of any other undiscovered Autobot burial grounds (old cars/trucks/vehicles or random scraps of metal) in, or near, Ottawa ;) - and don't forget to 'favorite' these if you are enjoying the series.
