Warning: Gun hunting for deer is usually the first 2 full weeks in November. Bow hunters could be in here starting in October. You may be better off to come earlier, or later. Wear blaze orange if you do decide to do come during the season.
A great battle was fought here. Initial reports suggested another Autobot fell, but after investigation it turned out this time it was a Decepticon.
During the battle, the Decepticon lost his Energon Cube, which you must find and sign.
You must start your journey at at the posted coordinates (N 45° 11.670' W 075° 53.274') and observe the dead Decepticon (and solve a field puzzle here...). To find the location of the lost Energon Cube (container), you must navigate from the posted coordinates to the following coordinates (after solving the riddles):
N 45° 11.6(B)(C-2)' W 075° 53.24(A-6)'
Look at the pictures below to solve for A.
A = The digital root of the name of the Decepticon. (hint: 11 letters, starts with a "T")
Observe the remains of the deceased Decepticon (at the posted coordinates) and answer the following questions.
B [FIELD PUZZLE] = If the Decepticon is 'normal side up', then 0, however if the Autobot is upside down (i.e. wheels facing up), then 5.
C [FIELD PUZZLE] = Let 'C' be the number of tires still on the Decepticon.
Notes:
- The total hike to find the Transformer and the cache, and to then make your way back to the car should be under 3km.
- If you park on the suggested roadside parking and walk to the Decepticon/cache, you may feel like you are trespassing, however this is actually the Rideau trail that happens to be right beside someone's house.
- At times this trail can be very wet and muddy, so bring rubber boots to be safe.
