Geocache Description:

One of the first challenges I seriously worked on required finding a group of caches that had collectively received 10,000 favorite points. Each cache used for the challenge had to contribute at least 100 favorites to the total. At the time, this challenge seemed unbelievably daunting--I didn't have any of these 100+ favorite point caches! (I've seen them called "Mega Favorites," though I prefer the needlessly pedantic "Hecto Favorites" myself).

Not convinced I would ever finish the challenge, I nevertheless began seeking out these 100+ favorite caches. Traveling helped substantially--Philadelphia and Boston, the cities I've lived near for the past several years, have fewer than 10 such caches between them, while cities like San Francisco and Washington, D.C., have them in abundance. Over time, I began to rack up favorite points until I reached 10,000. However, I didn't stop hunting for highly favorited caches once I reached that milestone. Pursuing these caches had brought me to some great sights and amazing geocaching experiences. (GC2M0AF stands out as a particular favorite). I logged that challenge cache last September, but by that time I had found more than 10 times the favorite points I needed.

Over time, the number of favorite points expands as more cachers find and favorite popular caches and more great caches are created. 5 years ago, 10,000 favorite points might have been much more of a stretch goal than it is now. I hope this challenge can reward cachers who have sought out great caches and serve as an aspirational goal for cachers in the way that the 10,000 favorite point challenge did for me.

The rules of this challenge are simple:

1. You must have found caches that have received at least 100,000 favorite points.

2. Each cache used must have at least 100 favorite points.

You are encouraged, but not at all required, to share your personal favorite qualifying cache in your log.

As per the new guidelines, the cache is at the posted coordinates in Red Bank Battlefield Park, and you may sign the log any time you please. The park is closed (and the gate is locked) from dusk to dawn.
