The listed coordinates are bogus, although the location was created to serve the Age of Steam and occasionally highlights that connection today.

Steampunk Introduction
A friend of ours mentioned recently that she had just been to a Steampunk festival. “What’s that?” we asked, and before long we had been introduced to some of the basics of Steampunk culture. If you’re also up for a Steampunk tutorial then this could be the multi/puzzle cache for you.

Picture an alternative present - mechanical innovations of the Victorian Age (eg. steam and clockwork) rather than electricity underpin all current technology - it is an analogue rather than a digital world!

Steampunk Origins
Your lesson begins with an online research assignment into some key Steampunk dates:

 ⚙️Naming the Genre
The year KW Jeter first coined the term “Steampunk” ABCD

 ⚙️Literature
The publication year of “Journey to the Centre of the Earth”
FGHI
(other defining Steampunk novels include 20,000 Leagues
under the Sea, The Time Machine and The War of the
 Worlds)

 ⚙️Movies
The international year of release of:
 Howl’s Moving Castle JKLM
 The Golden Compass NOPQ
 The Prestige RTUV
(other popular Steampunk movies include Brazil, Hugo and
 Oz The Great and Powerful)

 ⚙️Festivals
The first, and longest running Steampunk festival
“Weekend at the Asylum” began in WXYZ

Use the digits you have found to locate the Partickle Detector at:

S 37 49.NVB E 145 09.I(M-1)Z

You can check your calculated Partickle Detector coordinates here:
GeoCheck.org

NOTE: The Partickle Detector is NOT the final GZ, but if you can interpret its dials and needle movement, you will soon be on your way to finding the final cache! The final has a logbook and space for swaps but you will need to BYO pen.

***CONGRATULATIONS to the hamfish and The Welder on the joint FTF***

“Gone but not forgotten”
In memory of another cache that was once also here:
