The Find Your Chesapeake (FYC) GeoTour launched June 9, 2018 with over 60 caches within Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania. and Delaware. A trackable geocoin will be awarded to the first 400 geocachers, while supplies last, for locating at least 20 FYC caches. To be eligible for the coin, geocachers must download a passport from the Find Your Chesapeake GeoTour website. Geocachers must find and log at least 20 finds, record the code word from each cache on their passport. After discovering the 20 required caches, geocachers may have their passports validated via mail at the National Park Service, Chesapeake Bay Office located at 410 Severn Ave, Suite 314, Annapolis, MD 21403. Please refer to the passport for complete validation instructions.
Participating in the FYC GeoTour is fun and we hope that many people join in. However, it is not a requirement for logging your find on this cache once you find the container.
Look around you, below you, and above you – you are completely surrounded by the intricate beauty of one of the northernmost stands of bald cypress trees in the United States. Around you, the prothonotary warbler bird serenades as Louisiana waterthrush and seasonal wildflowers cover the earth. Below you, knobby cypress “knees” emerge from the water. Above you, 1,000-year-old cypress trees soar over 100 feet high. American Indians considered bald cypress trees perfect for canoe making. Not only do they have a great resistance to water compared to other trees, but they grow tall and strong.

Battle Creek Cypress Swamp is open during summer from 9am - 4:30pm Monday through Friday, 10am - 6pm Saturdays and 1pm - 6pm on Sundays. It is open the rest of the year from 9am – 4:30pm Monday through Friday, 10am - 6pm on Saturdays and 1pm - 4:30pm on Sundays. No dogs are allowed on the premises. To get to the trails at the Cypress Swamp, you must go through the Visitor Center.
